Childrenswear Buyer Magazine Launches Independent Retail Awards

British trade title Childrenswear Buyer Magazine (CWB) is launching its own Independent Retail Awards, which will celebrate performance and innovation in the childrenswear sector.


The competition is open to both new and well-established independent retailers, who can enter one of six categories; Best Kids Independent Store, Best Online Store, Best Footwear Store, Best Schoolwear Store, Best New Store and Best Established store.


The first category, Best Kids Independent Store, is open to retailers trading within the children’s apparel, footwear or accessories sector. The title will be awarded to a store which brings the best branded childrenswear to customers in its region and beyond - and which has become a destination in its own right.


The second category, Best Online Store, can be entered by retailers who trade exclusively online, providing an exceptional customer experience on a digital level.


The Best Footwear Store award, meanwhile, is open to children’s footwear retailers, who will be judged on the quality of their fitting, customer service and brand offer.


Best Schoolwear store will recognise those who trade within the specialist schoolwear sector, while Best New Store is open to innovative new start-ups which have been in business since 1st July 2013.


Finally, the Best Established Store award will be presented to a retailer who has been providing consistent good service for ten years or more.


An expert industry panel - chosen by and including CWB’s editor, Laura Turner - will judge the competition, with the winners announced in December 2015.


In addition to being named one of the country’s best childrenswear retailers, each winner will receive a comprehensive store marketing package, dedicated coverage in CWB magazine, and digital coverage via www.cwb-online.co.uk.


The awards themselves will serve as a platform for independent retailers, recognising innovation and rewarding excellence within the sector.


Turner said: “Having worked with independent retailers for over ten years, I am delighted to launch these awards, which are dedicated to recognising the talent within childrenswear.”


From the new start-ups bringing innovation to the fore to the established stalwarts of the sector, they truly are the lifeblood of the industry and I look forward to recognising all that they have achieved.”
