National Living Wage Increase from April 2018
Posted by: NCWA 24 November 2017It was announced in the Budget on Wednesday 22nd November 2017 that the National Living Wage was to increase by 4.4% to £7.83 (up from £7.50).
The National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage rates that will apply from April 2018 are as follows:
National Living Wage (NLW) Adult Rate (for workers aged 25 years and older) - £7.83 (up from £7.50).
National Minimum Wage (NMW) Adult rate (21-24 years) - £7.38 (up from £7.05).
NMW for 18-20 year olds’ rate - £5.90 (up from £5.60).
NMW for 16-17 year olds’ rate - £4.20 (up from £4.05).
Apprentice (those under 19 years or those aged 19 or over in their first year of apprenticeship) rate £3.70 (up from £3.50).
The hourly rate is the average rate for the hours worked in the pay reference period, e.g., seven days.
